Noted Swiss percussionist, Pierre Favre visited India on the invitation of Pro Helvetia New Delhi. [dated December 2006]

Pierre Favre, the noted Swiss percussionist, visited India on the invitation of Pro Helvetia New Delhi and played at the Jazz Utsav, a musical festival organised in Delhi and Mumbai, by Capital Jazz and Rock Street Journal.

Pierre Favre first performed at the Amphitheatre at Bandra in Mumbai. This open-air theatre is set against the ramparts of a seventeenth century fort built by the Portuguese, on the shores of the Arabian Sea. In Delhi, the noted percussionist performed to a packed audience at the Sri Satya Sai International Centre.

A workshop was organised at the studios of the well-known Indian band, Indian Ocean. Pierre Favre conducted an impromptu workshop for young musicians who had volunteered at the festival. The workshop was highly interactive and the participants found the interaction with Favre a greatly enriching experience.

Pierre Favre’s participation at the Jazz Utsav enabled Pro Helvetia New Delhi to introduce his music to audiences in India.
