Surjit Nongmeikapam invited to perform at Theater Spektakel
Indian choreographer and contemporary dancer, Surjit Nongmeikapam invited to perform at the Zürcher Theater Spektakel.
Sandro Lunin, Festival Director and Artistic Director, Zürcher Theater Spektakel (Theater Spektakel, Zurich) is pleased to invite Indian chreographer and contemporary dancer, Surjit Nongmeikapam to perform at the 34th edition of the Zürcher Theater Spektakel.

Surjit's participation at the festival is being supported by Pro Helvetia New Delhi. Surjit Nongmeikapam will present One Voice / Black Pottery Dance & Video | 45 mins The dancer and choreographer Surjit Nongmeikapam comes from the Indian province of Manipur near the border of Myanmar. He masters Kathak, a classical Indian dance, as well as contemporary dance forms. His dense, expressive solo is a reflection on torture and on the trauma that can lead to a lifelong bond between victim and torturer.
Surjit Nongmeikapam has also been nominated for the Zürcher Kantonalbank Acknowledgement Prize. The list of nominations include:

Surjit has on a previous occasion worked with Swiss artist Frédéric Lombard as part of the The Yellow Line Project (YLP) residency organized by GATI, that brought together dancers and media artists to make 5 films in different public sites around New Delhi in 2011.
