Swiss Author Monica Cantieni to visit India

Pro Helvetia New Delhi has invited Swiss author Monica Cantieni to read from her book recently translated into English in Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai and Pune.

Pro Helvetia New Delhi has invited Swiss author Monica Cantieni to read from her book recently translated into English in Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai and Pune.

The Swiss Author Monica Cantieni will be reading from her book The Encyclopedia of Good Reasons which has been translated by Donal McLaughlin as part of Seagull Books Swiss List.

The tour will include German author Thomas Lehr as well as translator Mike Mitchell, who has translated Thomas Lehr's book September, which is part of Seagull Books German List.

Mike Mitchell, translator of Max Frisch's Drafts for a Third Sketchbook , also part of the Swiss List will be speaking on translating Max Frisch and other Swiss authors.

Brief on author: 
Monica Cantieni, born in Thalwil, Switzerland, lives in Wettingen (Switzerland) and Vienna. She works for SRF, Swiss Radio and Television and has received various literary grants and scholarships for her short stories. With her debut novel Grunschnabel she was the finalist for the Swiss Book Awards 2011. The translation of the same, The Encyclopaedia of Good Reasons, is part of the Swiss List published by Seagull Books and supported by Pro Helvetia. Amongst her other published works is Hieronymus' Kinder as well as a large number of short stories in periodicals and anthologies. Monica Cantieni has also received numerous literary grants and awards.
